Dariush names favorite for the fight between Poirier and Gaethje for the 'BMF' belt, but minimizes the importance of the title

Highlight in the light weight (up to 70,3kg.) of Ultimate, Beneil Dariush weighed in on the confrontation between Dustin poirier e Justin gaethje, which will define the new UFC 'BMF' champion. Despite questioning the importance of the title, the athlete named the favorite for the clash, which takes place on July 29th. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the athlete spoke about the subject.

“I love this confrontation. I think it's an incredible fight. I think they are both behind me and won't be able to overtake me (in a possible fight for the lightweight belt). I bet my chips on Justin. I know he lost the first fight (against Poirier, in 2018), but I feel he is more motivated. I've trained with him, and I consider him my friend. He’s a great person,” Dariush said.

No UFC 291, Dustin and Gaethje will face each other in search of the position won by Jorge masvidal in 2019. With the veteran's retirement in 2023, Ultimate chose to make the belt vacant and define a new end for the object.

The dispute will mark the second meeting between Poirier and Justin in the company. In 2018, 'Diamante' came out on top when he knocked out his rival in the fourth round.
