Recently announced as athletes competing for the vacant 'BMF' belt, Dustin poirier e Justin gaethje will star in a rematch awaited by many MMA fans. Responsible for the choice, Dana White explained the reason for choosing the lightweight veterans (up to 70,1kg) and judged the idea to be 'right'. The decision was made after Jorge masvidal retire and abandon the title received in 2019.

“You know, war meeting, every Tuesday. We were there and, you know, as we were putting this card together for Utah, we thought Poirier and Gaethje would be an amazing fight, Masvidal retired, so we got BMF rolling. You have no idea how many of these fighters want to fight for the BMF title. Everyone wants to fight for that belt. It's fun, it's different, so let's do it again. These guys are the right ones to put the belt up for grabs for the second time,” said the president at a press conference.
