Held this Sunday (27), in Nova Iguaçu (RJ), the 10th edition of the Gringo Super Fight was marked by strong emotions. In the main fight of the night, a rematch valid for the welterweight belt, the Brazilian Cyborg Evangelist suffered another defeat to Dutchman Melvin Manhoef. After the triumph, Manhoef was challenged, still in the ring, by Paulo Filho, who ended up confirmed as his next opponent.

The fight between Cyborg and Manhoef is a repeat of the fight for the Cage Rage belt, held in 2006. At the time, the pair were in the light heavyweight category, with a weight limit of up to 93 kg, 16 kg more than in the rematch this Sunday. The confrontation in London was a fight with a lot of striking that remained in the fans' memories. This time, there wasn't time for much action. Just 46 seconds into the first round, the Dutchman landed a knee on Cyborg and took him to the ground, winning by technical knockout after a few more strikes on the ground. The result, however, was widely questioned by the Brazilian, who claimed to have suffered an illegal knee, while he had three supports on the ground.

But the controversy wasn't just due to Cyborg's complaints about the result of the main fight. Shortly after the fight, while Manhoef received the world championship belt, Gringo Super Fight, Paulo Filho got into the ring and challenged the Dutchman to a fight for the title. The atmosphere heated up between the athletes and they had to be contained by those present. The fight will also mark a rematch, as Manhoef was defeated by Paulão at DREAM in 2009, and was confirmed by the GSF president for the end of this year.
