The best news can arrive at the most unexpected times and places. Light heavyweight (up to 93kg) Jan Blachowicz revealed in a post on his Twitter that he got on a plane in Poland as part of the co-main fight of the UFC 282 and when he arrived in the United States he discovered that he was going to fight for the category belt.

“These were the craziest hours in history. I left Warsaw to be part of an elimination fight to fight for the belt and a few hours later I arrived as a title challenger. I'm ready. Keep your fingers crossed. Jiri Prochazka , great respect for your conduct! Stay safe!” wrote Blachowicz.
Shortly afterwards, in an interview with the UFC's official website, the Pole wished him a good recovery. Jiri Prochazka but he couldn't hide his happiness at being able to fight for the light heavyweight belt again.
“We just arrived in Vegas last night (last Wednesday). So today (Thursday) is the first training. I'm going to acclimatize, get used to the climate. And I'm happy because of the title shot. Main fight. Incredible. It was crazy because I didn't know anything. I was on the plane for 10 hours and I was the last person to know that my fight would be for the title. I wish Jiri a very speedy recovery, but it is what it is. We got the title shot, so perfect, I'm happy! Ready for it”, concluded the Pole.
Previously scheduled to face Magomed Ankalayev in the fight that would define the next challenger, Blachowicz and the Russian were promoted to the main fight and will face each other for the linear belt after an injury to Jiri Prochazka and the withdrawal of Glover Teixeira. The clash will be held at UFC 282, which is scheduled for December 10th.
