Ready to make history. This is how Glover Teixeira is now, with just under a month to go until the long-awaited rematch against Jiri Prochazka. In an interview with 'Combate', the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) revealed that he was in the final phase of his preparation and hinted that he could still extend his career for a while longer.

“I've been preparing for a while with the guys at the gym. When we are among lions, you always have to be sharp. Before setting December 10th as the date for my next fight, because we didn't know if it would be in January, I was already training and 100% focused. Now it's time to polish the technique, the last four weeks are left. I'm 'ready', 'happy', healthy and ready for war. Let’s go get that belt again and make history,” said Glover.

At 43 years old, the Brazilian said he was enjoying every moment of the final stretch of his career, but cited the legend Randy Couture, who fought until he was 45 and ruled out retirement for now.

“I'm fighting and having fun with the guys because I'm training among the best in the world. Happy to train with Alex (Poatan), new middleweight champion, with the Wellington Turman and, among these people, I feel like a boy, a young man training and I do what I like. I enjoy every moment. It's funny because 43 years in the fight is like being 85, 90 years old in life. But instead of having little time to live, you have little time in your career. Randy Couture fought until he was 45, 46 years old. But I'm going to see this and I'm going to enjoy the journey more. Training like hell and whatever comes, will come, and we will be ready”, concluded 'Glovão'.
