It looks like the last Strikeforce welterweight champion will finally make his UFC debut, at least if everything goes according to plan. According to the website “MMA Junkie”, the Belgian Tarec saffiedine will do, against Jake ellenberger, the main fight of next year's first Ultimate event, on January 4th, in Singapore.
For Saffiedine, the fight, in addition to his start in the new organization, will mean his return after a hiatus of almost a year. The Belgian, who has a record of 14 wins and three losses, last played on January 12, 2013, when he beat Nate Marquardt in the last Strikeforce event before his complete absorption by Ultimate.
The opponent of Tarec saffiedine on the night of fights, Jake ellenberger, comes from a defeat to Rory McDonald in a fight heavily criticized by president Dana White, on July 27th. The American, ranked fourth in the welterweight division, has 29 wins and seven losses throughout his career.
