On the one hand, Ngannou stated that the video had been manipulated to make Gane look better than he actually was, while on the other, Fernand Lopez, the Frenchman's coach, assured that following the filming.

In a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour”, a podcast from the North American website “MMAFighting.com, Cyryl Gane made a point of minimizing the controversy surrounding the video.

“For me, it was a good part of my sparring. Sometimes it was more balanced, sometimes he got the better of it. Every sparring session you do with a training partner is different”, minimized Gane.

Cyryl Gane stated that he did not understand the leak of the video, as the two have not trained together nor spoken for a few years. The Frenchman spoke about the Cameroonian's difficulty in relating to his training partners.

“He doesn’t like having many friends. That's my opinion. That's what I feel. He doesn't have many friends at the gym. He was there for about five years, something like that, but he doesn't have many friends,” said the Frenchman.

Finally, Gane said that, unlike Ngannou, he prefers to delegate duties to his coaches and focus only on training and fights. According to him, the Cameroonian's lack of confidence in the team may have been the main factor in the break with MMA Factory.

“For me, it’s better to be focused on the mission. But that's exactly Francis. Francis doesn't have much trust in many people, so he prefers to do everything. It was more or less like that at MMA Factory, I heard. He likes to control and didn't want to give part of the work to Fernand Lopez. I just go to the gym, train and that's it. All the rest of the work is with Martin. I just focus on my fight and my work. This helped me a lot. But you have to trust your camp. Maybe that was the problem between Francis and MMA Factory,” he concluded.

Amid much rivalry, Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane face each other, resulting in the unification of the heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg) in the main fight of the UFC 270, this Saturday (22).
