In an interview with the website Bleacher Report, Cormier did not hesitate to point out Junior Gypsy as the only athlete capable of beating Velasquez.

“They can’t beat Cain (Velasquez). They're not good enough. I think Júnior dos Santos is a great fighter. He is the only one with a chance of beating Cain, but the rest are unable. They're not good enough. I'm being as honest as possible”, said the Strikeforce heavyweight GP champion.

Cigano and Velasquez are old acquaintances. In their first meeting, in November 2011, Junior dos Santos became champion of the heavyweight division. Just over a year later, in December 2012, Velasquez regained the belt after a crushing victory over the Brazilian.

Junior Gypsy returns to the Octagon on May 25th, against Mark Hunt, in the co-main event of UFC 160. At the same event, Cain Velazquez defends his title against Brazilian Antônio “Pezão” Silva in the fight that headlines the fight night card.
