Thompson reveals he felt ill before weighing in for his fight against Durinho at UFC 264

Se Stephen Thompson didn't have a good experience fighting against Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 264, the same can be said in the pre-fight. The North American, who lost in a unanimous decision by the judges, reveals that he felt ill before the official weigh-in due to dehydration after taking a shake.

“When I'm close to weighing myself, I have about five shakes available to drink. I took it and I was sitting there with my dad and a bunch of fighters around me. People were coming over to try and talk to me, and I already had my first sip along with two bottles of water. And then something started to happen to me. My dad ran over to see if he could deliver anything to me, but I threw up everywhere, in front of the entire UFC cast,” Thompson told the‘MMA fighting'.

Furthermore, Stephen reports that he was embarrassed by the situation and worried about the scene when trying to find out if Gilbert Durinho had seen the scene. He, however, highlights that the Brazilian was not present at the time.

“I just looked up and thought, ‘Well, that was embarrassing. Everyone was like, 'Oh, welcome to the club, man.' I think this has happened to a lot of people. (…), I was like, ‘Oh man, where is Gilbert? I hope he didn’t see that’, but he was doing ESPN stuff, thank God”, concluded the American.

In the fight, which was the second most important of the night, Stephen Thompson suffered from falls Gilbert Durinho and he couldn't beat him. The American was close to a title shot after recording a series of two consecutive victories, but he will need to rebuild his path towards the belt.
