“I thank you very much but I still have to get this pressure off my chest, because it is a form of therapy for me. And one of the things that haunts me the most is that, doing meetings with fans, we did some together and they were great experiences, they asked me to take photos with them defending kicks as if it were with you. At first I refused, I found it disrespectful. But time passed and I ended up doing it. It bothers me because having gone through what I went through, all the pain and the long walk to get back, and the way you handled the situation… You could have been an asshole and dumped me and I couldn't blame you. But the post you made, I saw a lot from a lot of people, but the one that came from you represented a lot to me. You calling me and giving me advice was super inspiring. I was with my wife and four children in the car and you gave me your routine, told me that I could go back to the gym in four months. I didn't imagine it would be possible. This made me feel so much better. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had to get it out of me”, said the former middleweight champion.

The North American told details of the moment of his fracture and even commented that at the exact moment of the injury, he remembered his duel with the Brazilian fighter.

“As soon as I broke my leg and fell to the ground, my thought was, 'I can't believe what happened like the Anderson Silva'. This is my leg and it looks like Anderson Silva. Hell, it's not okay for this to happen to my leg right now. Then, all of a sudden, the pain started to set in,” Weidman said.

The 'All American' told details of the similar injury suffered by 'Spider' at UFC 168 and said he didn't realize at the time the seriousness of what happened to the Brazilian.

“I remember when it happened to you, because I didn't know your leg was broken. I thought you were just in pain and I remember you screaming like you were being murdered. I saw you holding your (already broken) leg and I just couldn't believe it. And now I feel bad for understanding all the pain you felt”, concluded the American.

The two athletes have already faced each other on two occasions: in the first duel, in July 2013, the Brazilian was the current middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) and was dethroned by the then newcomer with a knockout in the second round. In the rematch, in December of the same year, the North American won again after the Brazilian fractured his leg after trying a low kick.
