One of the most charismatic athletes in Ultimate, the veteran disappointed once again and succumbed to alex morono in the co-main event of UFC Las Vegas 26, held this Saturday (8). Initially, Morono would not be Cerrone's opponent for this weekend. The 'Cowboy' was chosen to exchange forces against the veteran Diego Sanchez, who ended up being dismissed from the organization days before the fight. With the TUF 1 champion out, Alex agreed to face Donald.

With the new defeat, Cerrone's career becomes even more complicated. In the final stretch of his career in MMA, the athlete went six fights without winning. Donald's last positive result came in May 2019, when he surpassed To the fifth.

In the most important victory of his career, Morono has plenty of reasons to celebrate. Candidate for one of the performance bonuses, the North American recovered from the defeat he suffered against Anthony Pettisin December 2020.

The fight

In the opening seconds, Morono attacked Cerrone, but the 'Cowboy' clung to his opponent and sought the takedown. Alex defended himself and started to press Donald against the bars. Cerrone managed to free himself and was surprised by a high kick from his rival. Alex found him well from a distance and touched the veteran with jabs and straight shots. Donald continued to have difficulty entering the opponent's range of action and tried to shorten the area with kicks to the waistline. After four minutes, Morono maintained a strong pace and continued to have an advantage in the duel. Almost in the final minute, Donald rocked Cerrone with a straight shot, but the 'Cowboy' continued to walk forward. With 40 seconds left, Alex shook the veteran again with a series of punches. Wobbly, Cerrone continued to be hit on his feet until the referee interrupted the dispute.
