In a fight valid for the main card of the event, Weidman threw a right kick in the first few seconds. The former champion hit Hall in the shin and seriously fractured his right leg. At the moment, the North American still tried to support himself on the ground. After the fight, he left on a stretcher and was applauded by the audience.

Coincidentally, Anderson Silva suffered the exact same injury against Chris Weidman, in the second fight between the two. At the time, the Brazilian broke his left leg and had to spend another year without appearing in the Octagon.
