The two-time PFL lightweight champion, Natan schulte, started the 2021 season with a defeat. The Brazilian was defeated by Marcin Held in a unanimous decision by the judges in the second most important fight of PFL 1 2021, an event held this Friday (24), in Atlantic City (USA). With the result, the Pole starts with three points in the tournament, while the current holder of the belt was unable to score.

The defeat to Held interrupted a streak of nine consecutive victories for Natan schulte. Lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) in 2018 and 2019, the Santa Catarina native started the new season poorly and will have difficulties if he wants to win his third title. The fighter now has a record of 20 triumphs and three setbacks.
Debuting in the PFL, Marcin Held gave fans an excellent calling card. With good speed in his striking, the Pole was faster and more powerful than his opponent and surprised the favorite. With the triumph, the European fighter now boasts a record of 27 wins and seven losses.
The fight
The two athletes started the duel very aggressively and exchanged punches at close range. Marcin Held landed more shots and was faster, but Natan schulte he left no attack unanswered. The Brazilian also kicked the Pole's legs to try to undermine his opponent's movement. Natan took the fight to the cage as a way of trying to cool down the fight, however, he had a lot of difficulty nullifying his rival's momentum. The assault ended with the European athlete's advantage.
The second half began with Held still having the advantage in the exchange of blows and hitting Schulte a lot in the face. The Brazilian was looking for a short distance, however, he didn't find any space and suffered from counterattacks. From halfway through the round, the Pole showed fatigue and tried to take the fight to the ground, but without success. Natan looked for a clinch and attacked him with knees and some stomps on the foot. The current lightweight champion ended the round still cornering his rival.
The Brazilian started the final stage trying to close the distance and hit Marcin Held. The European athlete circulated more around the octagon, seeking long distance and avoiding Natan's approach. Aware that he could be at a disadvantage on the scoreboard, the Santa Catarina native continued trying to corner the Pole. Held tried to take the fight to the ground, however, he didn't have enough physical strength. In the final minute, the two fighters went for a frank exchange and thus ended the fight.

The duel that closed the preliminary card pitted Sheymon Moraes, who had two consecutive defeats, against Brendan Loughnane who boasted a five-game winning streak. The English athlete didn't give the Brazilian a chance and knocked him out in the first round. The duel was valid in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg)
The fight started with Sheymon Moraes trying to kick the leg of Brendan Loughnane and your opponent counterpunching with jabs to the face. Around two minutes in, the Englishman hit the Brazilian with a direct hit that was a knockdown and left him stunned. By getting up and trying to hold on to his rival, Sheymon was easy prey for the European fighter's final blows. The referee stopped the fight and declared Brendan's victory.
With the knockout over Sheymon, Brendan scores six points in the featherweight tournament (up to 65,7kg) and now boasts a record of 20 wins and three losses. The Englishman is going through a great phase in his career and has reached the mark of six consecutive victories in his career.
Brazilian Sheymon Moraes debuted on the wrong foot in his new organization. With a record of 11 wins and 5 losses, the athlete from Niterói suffered his third consecutive setback in his career and found himself in a complicated situation in the featherweight tournament.

An electrifying duel between two Brazilians brightened up the preliminary card. After three rounds of a lot of action both on the feet and on the ground, Raush Manfio defeated Joilton Peregrino via split decision. The duel was exciting from start to finish and showed that both athletes are capable of reaching the second phase of the lightweight tournament (under 70,3kg).
The fight was marked by a lot of action from both athletes, Raush tried to keep the fight standing and Joilton looked for takedowns to strike when he was on top. The three rounds were very competitive, with both fighters looking for a knockout or submission at all times. The judges' split decision clearly showed how balanced the duel was.
Debuting in the PFL, Joílton Peregrino had his streak of four consecutive victories broken by Raush Manfio. Now, the lightweight boasts a record of 34 wins and nine losses in his professional career. The Brazilian will still have a second fight in the organization to try to get a place in the second phase of the tournament.
Also debuting in the organization, Raush Manfio achieved an important victory in his first fight of the 2021 season. The 'War Horse' won again after two consecutive defeats in his career. Now, the fighter boasts a record of 12 triumphs and three setbacks.
