The light heavyweight (up to 93kg.) of Ultimate, Thiago Marreta, suffered his second consecutive defeat in Ultimate and saw the fight for the belt become increasingly distant. In a post on social media, the Brazilian, who was defeated by Aleksandar rakic by unanimous decision of the judges, he apologized to the fans and did not transfer his blame in the fight.

At 37, Thiago Marreta came to dispute the division's belt, in July 2019, against Jon Jones. On that occasion, he gave the former champion a tough fight, but was defeated by a split decision from the judges. To this day, the Brazilian is considered the only one who officially won the fight against the North American for at least one judge.
After the duel against Jones, Marreta dealt with injuries to both knees and, on his return, lost to his compatriot Glover Teixeira by rear naked choke. Already in UFC 259, which took place on Saturday (6), was less than Aleksandar rakic in the three rounds and reaches three negative results in the Ultimate. He currently has a record of 21 wins and nine losses.
