With each defeat of a possible opponent of Anderson Silva for the middleweight title, there is a new list of names that could compete for the division title. After the knockout suffered by Michael Bisping No. UFC Sao Paulo, that list has changed again. Héctor Lombard, Luke Rockhold And, especially, Chris Weidman gained strength to challenge the champion. However, the possibilities do not seem to please one of the “Spider” managers, Ed Soares.

In an interview with the portal Cage Fanatic, Soares regretted the defeat of Bisping, who would have been the challenger if he had won Vitor belfort, and stated that Silva's next opponent has not yet been defined. And among the available names, the businessman remembered something unusual. “A possible fight is, you know, like Cung le, who is coming off three wins, or something like that, and has a little more than one name,” he said.

Ed Soares seems to have got confused, since Cung le comes from two victories, over Patrick Côté and Rich Franklin, and a defeat to Wanderlei Silva in his UFC debut. Furthermore, the 40-year-old Vietnamese is, without a doubt, the worst ranked among all the opponents already speculated.

Despite this, the businessman reinforced that Weidman is not an interesting fight for his client now. On several occasions, Soares questioned what the Brazilian would have to gain by beating a tough but – in his opinion – unknown fighter. “And I think he (Chris Weidman) is a phenomenal fighter, but we would like to see Anderson fight someone a little more recognized”, he concluded.
