Fabrício Werdum submits Alexander Gustafsson in the last fight of his UFC contract

He didn't even sweat. In his last fight of his UFC contract, Fabricio Werdum did not disappoint. In the fight against Alexander Gustafson, held this Saturday (25), in Abu Dhabi, by UFC Fight Island 3, the Brazilian made his jiu-jitsu black belt count and submitted the Swede in less than three minutes.

The triumph ended a drought of more than two years without victories for the gaucho. Werdum returned to the Octagon in May of this year, after serving a two-year suspension for doping. In his return fight, the gaucho ended up not doing well and being defeated by alexey oleynik.

For the confrontation against Gustafsson, which marked the Swede's debut at heavyweight (up to 120,2kg), the Brazilian was committed to winning, if he wanted to come away with a positive result in his last fight under his current contract.

The fight

The confrontation began with the athletes studying each other in the center of the Octagon. After feinting a few blows, Fabrício wasted no time and managed a takedown, which would determine the end of the confrontation. After making the transitions, 'Vai Cavalo' managed to lock in an armbar, forcing Gustafsson to tap out.

This was Werdum's 34th appearance in professional MMA. At 42 years old, the gaucho now has 24 wins, nine defeats and one draw.
