A truce in the rivalry, for now. Biggest rival in his career Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor spoke after the confirmation of the death of the father of the linear lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Abumanap, victim of complications after contracting Covid-19. The Irishman used his social networks to show his solidarity with his co-worker.

“The loss of a father, a coach and a great supporter of the sport. My condolences. Rest in peace, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov,” wrote Conor on his Twitter account.
This isn't McGregor's first show of affection when it comes to Khabib's family. The Irishman had already estimated Abdulmanap's improvements when he learned that his rival's father was in serious condition in a hospital in Moscow (RUS).
The rivalry between Conor and Khabib took on global proportions in 2018, when the athletes were scheduled to fight for the category's belt. The meeting between the two took place in October of that year and marked the most watched spectacle in the history of the sport.
In the confrontation between the two, the Russian got the better of the former featherweight and lightweight champion with a submission in the fourth round. Since then, athletes have occasionally provoked each other through the press and social media.
The loss of a father, a coach, and a dedicated supporter of the sport. Condolences and rest in peace Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
