After suffering his first setback since debuting for Ultimate, Johnny Walker decided to change his training plans and started working with Firas Zahabi, responsible for shaping the talent of the legendary Georges St Pierre. Under the care of his new mentor, the Brazilian ended up losing again in his last performance, held last Saturday (14), in Brasília. Even with the new negative result, Walker guaranteed that he will remain a student of Firas and, in a post on Instagram, stated that he will seek progress to get back on the path to victory.

“Thank you very much, Firas Zahabi, for all the training. We know we didn't have much time to correct the errors in my game, but I'm going to return to Montreal as soon as possible to improve everything. I have a lot to learn and I look forward to learning from you. Let’s work and get there”, wrote the Brazilian.

The light heavyweight arrived meteorically in the UFC. After three impressive performances, with devastating knockouts, the athlete didn't take long to find favor with fans and even the board. Soon, Walker was selected to act against Corey anderson, one of the candidates for the title fight in the category.

Against Anderson, the Brazilian ended up succumbing and was defeated by knockout in the UFC 244, held in November. After the setback, the Brazilian began to be criticized by a portion of MMA enthusiasts, who questioned his real talent.

Johnny's situation became more complicated after the setback for Nikita Krylov, last weekend. The Brazilian, however, continues to be considered one of the best names in the category and is now awaiting his next appointment to prove to the world that he can perform at a high level within the group headed by Jon Jones.
