1) THE GREAT WHITE DRAGON

The 1988 film is based on the true story of Frankie Dux, an American fighter who travels to Hong Kong to participate in a dangerous and deadly martial arts tournament. Played by Jean-Claude Van Damme, the athlete wants to show that he can emerge victorious over rivals from different disciplines.

'Rocky' is a film franchise known worldwide for telling the story of a boxer who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia and holds fights in small gyms. One day, the athlete, played by action star Sylvester Stallone, receives a surprising offer: to fight the world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed. In total, six films were produced telling the boxer's story.

3) RAGING BULL

'Raging Bull' is a film released in 1980, which tells the troubled story of fighter Jake LaMotta. The plot, which is based on the athlete's autobiography, is surrounded by drama and controversy and is a great cinema classic.

Released in 1999, Fight Club is considered one of the biggest hits of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton's careers. The film tells the story of a man who feels corroded by his work and his dissatisfaction ends up reflecting on his daily life. The man follows a sedentary and depressing life until one day he discovers a hobby that will change his routine.

5) THE FIGHT FOR HOPE

The film is a drama released in 2005, starring Russell Crowe. The plot tells the story of boxer Jim Braddok, who lived a life of success and luxury until he lost everything in the great economic crisis of 1929. Bankrupt, Jim needs to move away from boxing to support his family, but a great opportunity arises and he needs to decide what decision to make.

6) FLIGHT OF THE DRAGON

Considered one of the main films by martial arts star Bruce Lee, 'Flight of the Dragon' is considered one of the main productions involving the athlete. Released in 1972, the film tells the story of Tang Lung, a man who faces the Italian mafia to defend his friend, Chen Ching Hua. The film also features Chuck Norris, who plays the role of a villain.

7) KARATE-KID: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH

If you are a fan of martial arts, you have certainly seen or heard about 'The Karate Kid'. Released in 1984, the film tells the story of Daniel Larusso, who moves with his mother from Newark to New Jersey and ends up not finding the best setting to live in the new city. The boy ends up being chased by 'bullies' who practice karate and ends up meeting Kesuke Miyagi, a friendly gentleman, apparently harmless, but who carries with him a great knowledge of fighting. To get away from fear, Daniel asks Miyagi to train him to face the 'bullies', but the man prefers to enroll him in a karate tournament in which the bullies will also participate.

8) ALDO – STRONGER THAN THE WORLD

Released in 2016, the film tells the story of the former UFC champion, José Aldo, from his difficult youth in Manaus (AM) to reaching MMA stardom. With José Loreto as the protagonist, the film shows how the athlete left a life of confusion to become one of the best-known names in the history of mixed martial arts.

9) ANDERSON SILVA – LIKE WATER

Influenced by a phrase spoken by Bruce Lee, 'Like Water' is a documentary about the MMA legend, Anderson Silva, which shows the Brazilian's daily life up until the moment of his first fight against Chael Sonnen, in August 2010. At the time, at his peak, 'Spider' was considered the biggest name in the UFC and was close to his toughest fight to date. The film was released in 2012.

10) MORTAL KOMBAT

For those who like fighting and games, Mortal Kombat is a great treat. The film, released in 1995, took the characters from the virtual universe to the cinema screen and was a huge success. The plot revolves around Liu Kang, Lord Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonia Blayde, who accept to participate in a tournament on an island organized by the great Shang Tsung. As the film plays, fans can see the presence of several characters from the game, such as the villains Kano, Goro and Shao Khan.

11) GOLDEN GIRL

One of the most praised films of 2005, 'Golden Girl' brings audiences a dramatic story. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the plot talks about the daily life of Maggie fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), a boxer, and the trainer Frankie Dunn (Clint). Known for his arrogant style, the coach, who has never managed to get one of his athletes to hold a world belt, does not consider the possibility of teaching a woman how to fight. Everything changes when he sees potential in Maggie and the two begin a bond of friendship.

12) THE HEAVYWEIGHT PROFESSOR

Fight films also have room for comedy. 'The Heavyweight Professor' was released in 2012 and tells the story of Scot Voss (Kevin James), a biology teacher unmotivated with his job until he sympathizes with a co-worker when he learns that his music classes will be canceled due to lack of school funding. Voss then starts participating in MMA fights to earn extra income and help his colleague until he receives an unusual offer to work for the UFC.

13) KUNG FU PANDA

The film is an animation released in 2008. The plot tells the story of 'Po', who is a panda bear passionate about kung fu. With the dream of being a fighter, but prevented by having to work in the family business, Po ends up having his dream come true after being chosen to join the 'Furious Five' – warriors who protect his people against evil.

14) THE FIGHTER

'The Wrestler' brings one of the most beautiful plots of 2008, which tells the story of professional wrestler, Randy 'The Ram' Robinson, who defies age to continue practicing the sport, which is his great passion. After one of his performances, Randy ends up suffering a heart attack and finds himself in a big dilemma: continue fighting or accept to live a life outside the ring.

15) KICKBOXER

Released in 1989, 'Kickboxer' is another film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The plot tells the story of Kurt Sloane, who works as a trainer for his brother, kickboxing champion Eric Sloane. Eric ends up accepting the challenge of facing Tong Po, in Thailand, for the belt. The fight ends tragically, with Eric being brutally defeated and becoming a paraplegic. Kurt then swears revenge and begins training to try to defeat Po.

16) CREED

From the universe of 'Rocky-A Wrestler', in 2015, the spin off 'Creed'. The film tells the story of Adonis Johnson Creed (Michael B. Jordan), son of former world heavyweight champion – and friend of Rocky Balboa –, Apollo Creed, killed in the fourth film of the series by Ivan Drago. In the plot, the young man goes looking for Rocky so he can train him and thus follow in his father's footsteps in the sport. Balboa, then, finds himself torn between helping his friend's son, or moving away from the tragedy that has shaken him for all these years.

17) THE HAMMER

'The Hammer' is a biographical film that tells the story of Matt Hammil, a former professional wrestling and MMA fighter. Matt was born with a hearing impairment, something he had to overcome in order to perform within the national leagues. The film revolves around the athlete's struggle to reach his achievements.
