Undefeated since he debuted in Ultimate, Rogerio Bontorin is going through a great phase in the organization. However, not everything is rosy in the fighter's life. Coming from the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg), the athlete, who currently plays for the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), revealed the difficulties he goes through during fight week to avoid failing to make the weight cut. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

“I can't eat during fight week. I haven’t eaten anything since Monday (10)”, said the athlete.

Although he made it clear about the sacrifice he makes to fulfill his obligations with the UFC, the athlete explained why he still works in the flyweight category, given that his fighting weight is more suitable for bantamweight.

“I'm in this category because that's where there was an open position. For now, I can still make weight. I'll stay here (in the flies). It will depend on my body. I'm still being used in the division, actually. I only played in the group three times, but it has worked so far”, said the Brazilian.

Even without losing in the current category, Bontorin confessed that his future could, in fact, be among the bantamweights. The athlete, thinking about his health first, stated that he can return to his original division.

“When I can’t (make weight) anymore, I’ll think about going back,” he said.

Despite the difficulties in the weight loss process, Rogério spoke with confidence about this Saturday's challenge. The fighter sees the confrontation against Borg as a chance to get on the organization's radar once and for all.

“It's an important fight because of his name, but all the fights are tough. I'm not going to let his fame get in my way. He has a name, but I have more fights and more victories”, he concluded.

Currently, Bontonrin has 18 appearances as a professional in MMA. The Paraná native has 16 wins, one defeat and one fight without result. Ray, in turn, competed in 16 fights, with 12 triumphs and four setbacks.
