The target on the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Jon Jones, became bigger after his contested victory over Dominick reyes at the show on February 8th. After seeing part of the fans and specialized press criticize his triumph, now, the athlete has to accept several athletes publicly stating that they can beat him. This is the case of Jan Blachowicz, which will hold the main fight of UFC Rio Rancho, this Saturday (15), against Corey anderson. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the Pole spoke about the expectation of a positive result to be able to challenge 'Bones'.

“I would like to be the first guy to defeat Jon Jones. After the fight against Corey (Anderson), I think I'll be the next title challenger. First of all, I'm focused on Corey. Afterwards, I think I will have done enough to fight for the belt”, said the Pole.

The fight between Anderson and Blachowicz, in addition to a direct dispute between two big names in the light heavyweight division, marks the repeat of a confrontation held in 2015, at UFC 191. On that occasion, the Pole ended up being defeated by the North American and suffered his fifth negative result in his career. This time, however, Jan claims to have evolved and promises to triumph over his opponent.

“I lost a few times, but I know I'm better than Corey. I'll show him that I'm better. I'm very excited, very happy. I have never lost a rematch and, this time, it will be the same,” he concluded.

This will be Blachowicz's first appearance after the victory over Ronaldo Jacare in the heated fight that took place in November last year. Currently, the Pole occupies sixth place in the division ranking.

Coming from a great victory over Johnny Walker, one of the promises for the future of the category, Anderson wants the triumph to confirm his good form and consolidate himself as a future challenger for the title. The North American, today, is fifth in the group led by Jon Jones.
