This Saturday's fight (21), which marks the main fight of the UFC Mexico City (MEX), promises to catch fire and, if it depends on one of the night's protagonists, Jeremy Stephens, it will be a real suffering for Yair Rodriguez, the home athlete. With his motivation high, the North American stated that he will do everything he can to ensure that the fight takes place over 25 minutes. The desire is to make your challenger suffer as long as possible. The statements were made in a recent interview with 'Combate'.

“I don’t care how it ends. I plan on scoring more points and embarrassing this kid (Yair) for the entire 25 minutes (five rounds). I don't think he has the conditioning or skills to handle me for 25 minutes. It's going to be a long night for him and I plan to bring a lot of pain and fire and do what I do best: make people put out,” Jeremy said.
The increase in confidence masks the current moment experienced in the lightweight career (up to 65,7kg.). The athlete comes from two consecutive defeats within the organization. In July 2018, the North American, coming off three consecutive victories, was brutally knocked out by the former champion of the category, José Aldo. In March of this year, the athlete was beaten by his promise Zabit Magomedsharipov.
A victory over Rodriguez could put Stephens back in the division's spotlight, as the fighter is currently ranked eighth in the division's rankings. Although the moment is not the best, Jeremy is still confident in his work and believes that his combat style brings an audience and is capable of satisfying the public's desire for a good fight.
“I think I'm exciting, I think people like tuning in to see a brutal knockout artist who's been fighting since he was 16. I was born for this. This is my destiny, brother. I was born ready. I'm super excited to be here in Mexico, where some of the best fans in the world are. I will go to work and do what I do best: destroy people”, confirmed the athlete.
In 28 victories as a mixed martial arts professional, Stephens currently has 19 victories by knockout.
Yair Rodriguez, a young promise from the organization, has had 13 fights, with 11 victories and just two defeats. His last setback came in May 2017, when he lost to Frankie Edgar at UFC 211.
