That two of the most controversial athletes in Ultimate will face each other in UFC 244, everyone knows that. However, the duel between Masvidal and Nate diaz, depending on Jorge, will not have one of the elements that helped elevate the name of the two athletes: provocation. According to Masvidal, the meeting between the competitors does not require the exchange of insults, as these are two fighters known for their determination and desire to put on a great show. In a recent interview with reporter Ariel Helwani, the American stated his respect for Diaz and confessed that the rivalry will be limited to the octagon.

“It's happening, man. The engines are on. We are going. This is the deal. I don't have to provoke that guy. He (Nate) is coming to destroy me. We don’t need provocations”, said Jorge.
Masvidal also stated that when provocations occur on one side, it is because the duel cannot promote itself. Sometimes, then, for Jorge, a certain commitment must have a greater impact so that MMA enthusiasts become interested and can follow the fight.
“In the case of a lot of guys, they can't bring everything to the octagon, so they have to talk,” said the fighter.
UFC president Dana White himself stated that the clash between Diaz and Masvidal was a duel that took shape on its own. There were no difficulties in negotiations and the fight became a meeting that fans would like to watch. As there were two prominent names within the company, the duel ended up heading the UFC 244, taking the place of the title fight between Kamaru Usman e Colby covington, which did not happen due to the fact that the company was unable to reach a value between the parties.
The challenge, which will be valid for a symbolic belt created by Ultimate, began to take shape after Diaz beat Anthonny Pettis at UFC 241, to a great extent. Still in the octagon, Nate invited his compatriot to a fight and Jorge quickly accepted.
Currently, Masvidal is third in the welterweight rankings (up to 77kg), while Diaz, who returned to MMA after a three-year hiatus, is already in sixth place, after his positive result in his debut in the new division.
The fight between the athletes will take place on November 2nd, in New York and will decide who is the 'Best Son of a Mother in the game'.
