The flyweight champion (up to 56.7kg) found a good challenge to ask the UFC for. The athlete confessed that she wants to have a rematch against Liz Camouche, who she was defeated by in 2010, playing for the 'C3 Fights' event. The statement was made in a recent interview with the 'BJPEN.com Radio' program. Valentina held her first belt defense on the 8th, against the American, Jessica Eye.
“Of course it would be a great fight (against Camouche). She is a strong opponent and would be a good fight,” said Shevchenko.
The current flyweight champion commented on the episode that represented her first career defeat and blamed the doctors for not allowing her to continue fighting on that occasion, when a technical knockout was declared.
“I was dominating the round. Dropping combinations. I even took her to the floor. I was standing and she managed to hit my eyebrow with her heel. I had a cut and the doctor decided to stop the fight. This was not the way I had planned. I was ready to continue that fight, but the doctor thought differently. I think it will be a very different fight”, said Valentina.
The Kyrgyzstani, however, believes that a defeat can never be erased from an athlete's history. However, the lessons learned from each fight are essential for the development of a great champion.
“You will never erase a defeat, but you can still achieve another victory. I'm here to keep winning and keep being the champion. I will never let anyone take this belt from me because I trained harder than any of them (athletes). That’s why it will be a great fight”, declared the champion.
Currently, Liz is in third place in the fly rankings. In her professional record, the North American has already played 19 times, winning 13 and losing on six occasions, one of them to Ronda Rousey, in 2013, for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.), which today belongs to the Brazilian Amanda nunes.
Shevchenko, in turn, has 19 fights, 16 victories and just three defeats in his professional MMA record.
