Since last Wednesday night there has been no talk of anything other than the Alistair Overeem anti-doping result. The Dutchman was caught by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) with an elevated testosterone/epitestosterone ratio.
This Thursday, NSAC executive director Keith Kizer provided further details on the level of Overeem's T/E ratio. The average of the world's male population is 1:1, with occurrences of up to 2:1 occurring. For athletes, the maximum level tolerated by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is 4:1. The NSAC tolerates ratios up to 6:1, a standard that WADA used until 2006. Overeem was caught with 14:1.
The former Strikeforce champion can still request a retest, collected on the same day as the original exam, in order to confirm the accuracy of the result. If the test is negative, Overeem will be able to challenge for the belt. Junior Gypsy No. UFC 146. If doping is confirmed in the test, the Dutchman will have his license to fight in the state of Nevada revoked.
It is worth remembering that the NSAC is the most respected athletic commission in the USA and that its decisions are usually followed in other states in the country, that is, a punishment in Nevada should result, in practice, in punishment throughout the USA.

Overeem's epitestosterone level was 14 times above normal.
