Jussier formiga defeated his compatriot Deiveson Figueiredo and left the UFC Nashville, this Saturday (23), confident that he would be the next challenger for the flyweight belt Henry Cejudo. However, it seems that this is not the plan of Dana White, president of Ultimate.

In an interview with ESPN in the USA after the event, White commented that Cejudo will move up to bantamweight and face Marlon moraes for the vacant category title. Formiga, number one in the flyweight rankings, must face Joseph Benavidez, number two in the rankings.
“Now I have a plan. Before I didn't have it, but now I do. I believe we will Marlon moraes x Henry Cejudo for the vacant bantamweight belt. They both really wanted this fight, and it seems like a great fight to have after the whole situation involving TJ Dillashaw. And we will have Formiga x Benavidez on the same card, in case one of them can be the replacement if something goes wrong. And the winner of this fight guarantees the right to be the number one challenger for the title fight,” said Dana, without revealing whether Formiga or Benavidez will be possible challengers at flyweight or bantamweight.
Dana White's statement further reinforces the possibility of the UFC ending the flyweight division in the organization. This was already the franchise's plan when TJ Dillashaw dropped from bantamweight to the category to challenge Henry Cejudo, in January. However, he ended up being knocked out and fell into an anti-doping test.
With that, Dillasahw gave up the bantamweight belt and the Brazilian Marlon moraes, number one in the ranking, and Henry Cejudo, flyweight champion, must face each other for the vacant title.
