Dillashaw was caught in the examination carried out before his fight at UFC Brooklyn in January this year, when he moved down the flyweight division and lost to the division champion Henry Cejudo. The substance found in the test was not disclosed by the fighter. However, USADA (US Anti-Doping Agency) announced that he is preventively suspended for one year, and imposed a fine of US$10 – around R$38 at the current rate.

Through a long Instagram post, TJ revealed that he is working together with his team to find out the reason for the doping.

“To all my fans, I want to be the first to inform you that USADA and NYSAC (New York Athletic Commission) informed me about the presence of a prohibited substance in the anti-doping test carried out for my last fight. I can't describe in words how disappointed I am right now. Please know that I am working with my team to understand what happened and how to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. Out of fairness and respect for the rest of my division, I have informed the UFC that I am voluntarily giving up my belt while I deal with this issue. I thank everyone in advance for their support”, wrote the now former champion.
