Jorge Masvidal reveals reason for attacking Leon Edwards at UFC London

Jorge masvidal knocked out Darren till and silenced the English fans at the O2 Arena during the UFC London, on Saturday (16). However, the North American made news when he got involved in a fight with Leon edwards behind the scenes of the event. With his temper calmed down, the fighter said he was provoked when he was giving an interview and went to talk to the Englishman.

“I was doing an interview and this hooligan walks by saying, 'July, you're going to get your ass kicked in July.' I said, 'Say it to my face.' I walked towards him with my hands behind my back, showing that there would be no problems. But he put his hands up and came to me. Where I come from, if you do that, you're going to punch me. And that won’t happen”, said Masvidal in an interview with the website of the North American channel ESPN.

Through his social networks, Edwards thanked Gunnar Nelson for the confrontation. The Englishman beat his opponent by split decision in the co-main event. Furthermore, Leon provoked Jorge and promised a duel between them soon.

“Very happy with my performance last night against a high caliber opponent like Gunnar Nelson. Much respect to you, Gunnar. It was a great fight and we can't wait to see him recover. Thank you to my team, friends, family and fans for everything. Birmingham, stand up! As I said, this is the seventh in a row in the most difficult division in the sport and I'm coming for everyone. World Champion 2019 is the target of my words. If you're not with me now, you will be. And Jorge, fair play, throw your punches as much as you can, but now it's f***ed up. If security wasn't there you wouldn't have come back to the US, see you soon,” Edwards wrote.

The case

The controversy occurred when Masvidal was giving an interview backstage at the UFC London. At this moment, Edwards passed through the corridor provoking his rival. The North American interrupted his response to the reporter and went towards the Englishman with his arms behind him. When he approached, the two exchanged punches until they were restrained by Ultimate's security guards.
