UFC plans to use the structure of the U2 show when the organization returns to Brazil
The next edition of the UFC in Brazil is shaping up to be the biggest of all time. After confirming that UFC 147 will take place on June 23, at the Engenhão Stadium, the organization plans to surpass 55 tickets sold and break the event's attendance record.
And to hold an event of this size, the UFC already works with super production. Even a structure used by the Irish band U2 in their shows, called “The Claw”, was considered to be part of the event at the Rio stadium.
“We are working on it now (structure and production of the event). To make lighting equipment inside one of those places? Did you see U2's last concert? We try to rent that claw – or whatever that thing is”, said UFC president, Dana White, in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie.
“We tried to rent that thing from them, but we couldn't get it because we wouldn't be able to use it there (in Brazil). So we're building our own version of the claw. There is a lot of work to do for this show”, added the director.
