UFC 235, an event held last Saturday (02), is not over yet. The show's controversy still generates comments and even an unexpected apology. On the main card of the attraction, Ben Askren got a chokehold on Robbie Lawler and Herb Dean, one of the best referees in the world, interrupted the contest believing that the former welterweight champion had fainted. However, the images show that the fighter was still active in combat.

This Thursday, in a video released by the organization, Dean appears apologizing to Lawler for stopping the duel.
In the images it is possible to watch the conversation between Dean and Lawler after the end of the fight. Upon realizing that the referee had ended the fight, the former champion questioned what he was doing. In response, Herb stated: “I thought you…”, while making a gesture of waving his arm showing that Robbie was unconscious.
Lawler assured that he was fine to continue fighting, but understood the attitude and forgave the referee. Upon noticing the audience booing Dean, Robbie praised the judge: “Herb! Herb! Hey, don't mind that. You’re a f***ing referee.”
When speaking directly to the former champion, Herb explained: “No, man. No. I don't understand how... Like, I saw his arm go soft. I held it…” However, he was interrupted by Lawler who declared that he gave a thumbs up to let him know that he was fine.
Realizing his mistake, Herb apologized to the former champion. “I didn’t see you give a thumbs up. I fucked up,” said Dean. Lawler assured: “S*** happens, man. Shit happens.”
