Elaine Caparroz experienced moments of terror in her apartment in Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday morning (17). The mother of fighter Rayron Gracie was tortured for four hours by lawyer Vinícius Batista Serra.

In an interview with Tatame magazine's website, Kyra Gracie stated that it was not the first meeting between the two. The Jiu-Jitsu black belt reported that Vinícius slept at Elaine's house, had a 'freak out' and started beating the businesswoman on Sunday morning (17).

Rayron's mother managed to defend herself by doing a Jiu-Jitsu technique, which is the 'x'. When he tried to use a rear naked choke, she crossed her arms over her chest and protected her neck to avoid the choke.

“She woke up being punched by him, because he had slept in her apartment. She thought he was robbing her, she even said he could take whatever he wanted, but he said 'I want to kill you'. He wanted to squeeze her neck. He's a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu, he's the type of person who tarnishes the image of our sport. He wanted to grab her neck, but she managed to defend him with an 'x' on her neck, when he crossed his arms around his neck. He bit her body precisely to force her to release her arm and attempt strangulation. She knew that if he grabbed his neck, he would die, so she fought,” said Kyra.

Residents of the building in the West Zone of Rio heard Elaine's cries for help and called the police. The police arrested Vinicius red-handed. On Monday (18), the Rio de Janeiro Court ordered Batista to be in custody.

Ryron Gracie's mother was taken to Hospital da Casa de Portugal and remains in serious condition in the ICU. Elaine had fractures in the bones of her face and nose, lost a tooth and will need to undergo some surgeries.
