The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) ruled Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor and those involved in the widespread brawl at UFC 229. The lightweight champion was sentenced to pay a fine of US$500 and will have to serve a nine-month suspension. In an interview with the North American channel ESPN, the president of Ultimate, Dana White stated that the committee was very harsh with the Russian.

“I was surprised by what they (commission) did with Khabib. Half a million dollars and six months if he does some work. All of this happened in seconds. They were too tough in my opinion”, said the Ultimate boss.
During the hearing, the Athletic Commission asked its members to carry out greater monitoring of what fighters say before fights. With this, the organization wants to prevent new incidents similar to those at UFC 229 from occurring. In response, White assured that 'trash talk' is a fact that occurs and should be seen as a natural thing when promoting events.
“At the end of the day, it’s a fight. Sometimes you meet people who don't like each other and there's a lot to that. That's what happened in this fight. That's what we do in this business. These guys talk bad about other fighters and other things too”, concluded Dana.
