President of CBS criticizes MMA

With just four weeks left until the start of the partnership between the CBS television network, one of the big four in the USA, and EliteXC, the agreement took a major blow this week.

The event, which will be the biggest MMA broadcast in the world, does not have the support of Sumner Redstone, president of CBS, who does not see MMA as a sport and does not think of the sport as socially responsible. Sumner's statement was made this Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter, causing a stir behind the scenes of MMA.

The decision to take EliteXC to CBS came from executive president Les Moonves, who did not consult Summer to make the decision.

“Lês (Moonves) usually asks my opinion,” Sumner said. “Most of the time, he does the right thing,” he concluded.

EliteXC takes place on May 31st and will be the first of four events broadcast live on CBS over the next 12 months.
