The dream of a US$1 million prize was almost impossible for Brazilian Vinny Pezão. In the final of the PFL light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) tournament, the Brazilian black belt lost the decision to Sean O'Connell via technical knockout in the third round and missed the chance to start 2019 as the newest millionaire in the world. In the dispute, Pezão even started better in the first round. He got to O'Connell's back, but was unable to finish. However, from the second round onwards, the North American began to impose his pace and dominate the fight. He avoided Vinny's ground game and worked better on top.
The end of the clash came after a series of punches that sent Pezão to the ground. The North American still worked with strong blows from above until the end of the partial. But, badly injured, the Brazilian was unable to return for the fourth round and lost by technical knockout.
