The first fight between featherweights took place at WEC 41 in June 2009. Aldo knocked out Swanson in just eight seconds and won the 'Fight of the Night' award. With this, the Brazilian qualified to compete for the category belt with Mike Brown. 'Zé' beat the American and remained with the title for six years, in addition to transitioning from the organization to the UFC.
Ten years later, Aldo is ranked second in the category and is coming off a significant knockout over Stephens. The Brazilian has 14 fights in his 31-year professional MMA career, with 27 wins and four losses. Júnior started a streak of 18 consecutive victories until he was beaten by Conor McGregor at UFC 194 in December 2015. After the defeat, the fighter went through an irregular moment in Ultimate.
At 35, Cub swanson comes from three defeats to Brian ortega, Frankie Edgar e Renato Moicano. The North American is in seventh place in the featherweight rankings. In his 14-year career, the fighter has accumulated 35 clashes, 25 of which were triumphs and 10 setbacks. Since being surpassed by the Brazilian in the WEC, the athlete has been looking for a rematch with Aldo.
