Accused of murdering UFC fighter admits guilt, but denies intention to kill

UFC fighter Ryan Jimmo died after being hit by a truck in June 2016 in Canada. Anthony Getschel was charged with second-degree murder by premeditated act. On Monday (26) he admitted guilt in the athlete's death, but denied the intention to kill him. He also took responsibility for fleeing the scene without providing assistance to the victim.

According to the website of the North American channel CBC News, Anthony will be sentenced at the Edmonton Court on December 03rd.

According to statements recorded by the city police, Getschel ran over and killed the Ultimate fighter in the parking lot of a nightclub after an argument.

Jimmo got out of his vehicle along with two friends when he realized that Anthony was driving the truck recklessly.

During the argument, Ryan called Getschel out for a fight. However, the man did not want to confront him, but waited for Jimmo to leave in his vehicle so he could run him over. Anthony fled the scene without providing assistance to the athlete.

Later, Getschel was involved in a traffic accident and abandoned the truck at the scene. He used a taxi to get home so he could report to the police that the vehicle had been stolen.

Ryan Jimmo passed away in 2016 at the age of 34. The fighter remained in the UFC for three years. His last fight was in May 2015, when he was defeated by unanimous decision by Francimar 'Bodão'. The Canadian had 24 fights in his career, 19 wins and five losses.
