The second edition of Amazon Forest Combat, which takes place on March 30th, confirmed yet another duel between renowned athletes to measure strength in Manaus. After Murilo Bustamante, Dave Menne, Thales leites and Patrick Côté, the show's organizers announced that the Olympic Judo champion, Satoshi Ishii faces Cameroonian Rameau Sokoudjou, in a fight valid for the light heavyweight division.
Ishii, despite a successful judo career, is experiencing personal drama. The Beijing Olympic champion suffered a brain injury in the fight against Fedor Emelianenko, in December, and was advised to give up the sport. But he decided to continue in MMA and agreed to come to Brazil, assuming all the risks of injury.
“We have a contract signed by Ishii himself where he, in one of the clauses, assumes this responsibility”, stated Fabrício Cavalcante, responsible for Amazon Forest Combat.
In turn, Sokoudjou, who has played in events such as Pride and UFC, is not experiencing a good moment in his career. The Cameroonian has an MMA record of 12 wins and 10 losses and has significant victories in his career, as against the Brazilians. Rogerio Minotouro e Ricardo arona.
