Sean O'Malley was caught taking a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) exam on the eve of UFC 229 on October 14th. So his bantamweight clash with Jose Quiñonez was cancelled. On Wednesday (24), the Nevada Athletic Commission decided to impose a six-month suspension on the XNUMX-year-old fighter.
O'Malley received a reduced suspension because he cooperated and accepted responsibility for failing the test carried out by the used company. The bantamweight will also have to pay US$472,42 in legal fees.
The penalty is retroactive and O'Malley will be cleared to return to the Octagon on March 2019, XNUMX. However, Sean could still face a maximum two-year suspension from USADA.
