Anthony Pettis was defeated by Tony Ferguson in the co-main event of UFC 229. Just over a month later, Ultimate is already planning its return to the octagon. According to the journalist from the North American channel ESPN, Brett Okamoto, the organization is arranging the 'Showtime' confrontation and Justin gaethje for the beginning of 2019.

Ultimate has two cards planned for January 2019. The first event will be UFC Brooklyn on January 19th, which will mark the debut of the partnership between the franchise and ESPN. The organization's second show is UFC 233, on January 26th in Anaheim, California (USA).
Anthony Pettis has not been able to maintain regularity since losing the title to Rafael Dos Anjos in March 2015. Since then there have been eight fights with five setbacks and three triumphs. His last victory was against Michael chiesa at UFC 226 in June this year.
Justin gaethje There are four fights in Ultimate. In his debut, the former WSOF champion won Michael Johnson with a technical knockout at TUF Finale 25 in July 2017. He then had two losses to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin poirier. His last commitment was at UFC Lincoln in August of this year. He knocked out James Vick at 1:27 of the first round.
Per multiple sources, UFC looking to book Justin gaethje vs. Anthony Pettis. It's not done and there's no date just yet, but that's the matchup currently in the works. Would be early next year.
