the american Nick Diaz did it once again! The controversial fighter was caught anti-doping at UFC 143, an event held last Saturday (4), in Las Vegas, for using marijuana. This is the second time that Nick has been caught in the exam for using the drug. At the first opportunity, in 2007, the athlete was caught fighting against Takanori Gomi at Pride.
The results of the exam were released on Thursday night by the Nevada Athletic Commission, the entity that sanctioned the event, and Diaz is temporarily out of action. The fighter can get a hook for up to 12 months.
“All doping results from UFC 143 were negative, except for Mr. Diaz, who tested positive for marijuana metabolites. We have filed a disciplinary complaint against him,” said Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer.
The doping of Nick Diaz causes a turnaround in the UFC, which was already planning a rematch between him and Carlos Condit. The fighters took part in the main fight of UFC 143 and Condit won the fight by unanimous decision from the judges and won the interim welterweight title.
To date, the UFC or Nick Diaz did not comment on the case.
