The Brazilian Mauricio Shogun announced on Tuesday night that he is no longer advised by Eduardo Alonso, a personal friend and manager of the fighter for the last five years. Through Twitter, the former UFC champion announced the decision, but did not give details about the reason for the separation.
“I would like to inform everyone that I no longer work with Eduardo Alonso. We remain friends as always”, wrote the fighter on the microblog.
Friends since the days of Chute Boxe, Eduardo Alonso and Mauricio Shogun had been working together since 2007, after the Brazilian debuted in the UFC with a defeat against Forrest griffin. Represented by Alonso, Shogun reached the light heavyweight title in 2010, defeating Lyoto Machida by technical knockout in the first round. Less than a year later, in March 2011, Shogun lost the belt to Jon Jones, in his first fight after undergoing knee surgery.
