Chris Weidman was knocked out by Ronaldo Jacare in the co-main event of UFC 230. The North American dominated the first two rounds, but the Brazilian turned the game around by landing a right cross and knocking out his rival. With the setback, 'All-American' has four defeats in the last five fights. On his social network, the former middleweight champion thanked his fans for their support and promised to return better for the next fight.

“Unfortunately, last night didn’t work out for me. Congratulations to Jacaré, his family and his team on the incredible victory. He is a real warrior. It was an honor to share the Octagon with him. Thank you everyone for your support, love and prayers. Thanks for everything. I’ll come back better than this,” Weidman posted.

Before UFC 230, the organization's president had confirmed that if Weidman beat Jacaré he would be the next challenger for the middleweight title. He would face the winner of Robert whittaker e Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 234 in February in Australia.

Since 2015, 'All-American' has been going through an irregular phase in Ultimate. Weidman was defeated by Luke Rockhold, Yoel romero e Gegard Mousasi. Chris managed to bounce back by beating Gastelum in July last year.
