Ronaldo Jacare achieved one of the biggest victories of his career by knocking out Chris Weidman in the co-main event of UFC 230, this Saturday (03), in New York (USA). However, referee Dan Miragliotta's judgment overshadowed the Brazilian's joy at the moment of triumph.

At 2:30 of the third round, Jacaré managed to land a right blow that took Weidman to the ground. Upon realizing that his rival was knocked out, Ronaldo stopped attacking. However, Miragliotta did not stop the fight and the Brazilian had to hit the North American, who was no longer able to defend himself, two more times. Just like that, the mediator interrupted the duel.

When asked about the referee's stance during the post UFC 230 press conference, Jacaré expressed irritation and criticized Miragliotta's lack of action.

“I was very upset. I saw it was over, my hand went in and he fell really badly. He didn't need to give two more blows. I told the judge, but unfortunately I had to punch him to end the fight”, said the Brazilian.

Regardless of the problems with the judge, Jacaré recognized that the fight with Weidman was the biggest fight of his career.

“It was a great victory over a great opponent. A guy I'm a fan of and I follow him on social media. For me, it was one of the biggest victories I’ve ever had”, admitted Jacaré.

With the triumph over the North American, the Brazilian qualified as one of the candidates to face the winner of Robert whittaker e Kelvin Gastelum for the middleweight belt. The title fight should take place at UFC 234, February 9th in Melbourne (AUS). When asked who he would like to face in a middleweight title fight, Jacaré joked that he wants to face the winner.

“I don’t even want to think about who will win. I will take the winner and slaughter him. And I never miss a rematch”, concluded the jiu-jitsu black belt.

It is worth mentioning that the Brazilian was knocked out by Whittaker in April 2017 and lost to Gastelum in May this year, in a tight split decision.
