Brazil started well on the UFC 230 card, an event held this Saturday (03), in New York (USA). With two representatives in the opening program, the country left the preliminary card with two victories: Marcos Foot defeated Adam Wieczorek via unanimous decision, while Sheymon Moraes beat Julio Maple, also by the side judges.

In his third appearance in the octagon, Sheymon Moraes celebrated the second triumph of his career. In front of the North American Julio Maple, the Brazilian came close to knocking him out on two occasions, but his rival showed a lot of courage, survived the punishment and even came back better in the last part. In the end, the athlete from São Gonçalo, in Rio de Janeiro, won in a split decision from the judges (29-28, 28-29, 30-26)
The first round of the fight began with the fighters studying each other in the center of the octagon. Arce launched a sequence of blows, but Sheymon with his guard closed didn't let the attacks enter. Moraes managed to hit his rival directly in the face and he fell to the ground. The Brazilian fell on top, throwing sledgehammers at the North American, who defended well and tried to apply an inverted triangle, but ineffectively. With the fight standing, Julio stuck to his opponent's back and backpacked him. The fighter discovered on the US Contender Series sought to close the triangle and went for the rear naked choke. However, Moraes managed to do well and avoid the submission.
Sheymon started the second round with a kick and followed up with direct punches. Arce tried to take down the Brazilian who defended himself and put his rival on his back against the cage. Working Muay Tai with knees and elbows, Moraes managed to open a wound on his opponent's face that began to bleed. As his vision was impaired due to the blood, Julio received blows to the rib area. With another direct punch, the Brazilian made the North American fall to the ground. The Brazilian athlete went head on, but had no time to finish the fight.
The last round started more slowly. Arce worked on the kicks and in response Sheymon put his right on his rival's face. Julio landed a knee strike and a sequence of punches and kicks on the Brazilian. With a frank exchange between the featherweights, the North American recovered on the scoreboard. The fight became more intense in the last minutes where the fighters managed to land good blows on their opponent. When the horn sounded, the athletes smiled and greeted each other.
“I wanted the knockout, but the UFC only gives me tough guys. I was surprised, because it's very difficult for someone to get hurt like he did and keep fighting. But we Latinos are like that. I dedicate this victory to my son!”, said Sheymon in an interview inside the octagon.

After a year and a half without fighting Marcos Foot resurfaced at UFC 230 as a new fighter. In addition to debuting in the heavyweight category, he showed a reinvigorated game in the top division. With his new skills, he dominated Adam Wieczorek and won by unanimous decision from the judges (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Pezão broke the Pole's four-year streak without defeat and won his 16th career victory. At 26 years old, Wieczorek had his second setback as a professional MMA fighter.
The fight started out between heavyweights. The first attack came from Adam, who grabbed the Brazilian around the waist and knocked him down. So he began his work on the floor. In a turnaround, Pezão managed a sweep and reversed the position with his rival. Marcos kept his opponent with his back on the ground and threw punches and elbows. In the last seconds of the round, the Brazilian maintained the necessary distance to be able to land good blows from above. Without more time, the first round came to an end.
Pezão returned for the second round, delivering a kick to his rival's left leg. Afterwards, he tried to take Adam down ineffectively, but managed to pin him to the fence. The athletes stay glued to the cage for a few seconds, but then move away. However, after a frank exchange, the heavyweights returned to the gridiron. Marcos dominated his rival and threw crosses and straight shots, but Wieczorek tried to dodge the blows. The fighter from Ribeirão Pires tried to get a guillotine choke, but his rival escaped. In the last moments of the round, the Brazilian connected good blows.
The Brazilian returned for the last round with the same strategy of kicking his rival's leg. However, the Pole caught his opponent, put the fight to the cage and applied good blows at close range. Marcos takes down his opponent and falls on top. The fighter from Ribeirão Pires got the mount, but Wieczorek quickly escaped and put the fight back on its feet. The fighters began to engage in frank exchanges in the final seconds, but the fight came to an end.
