Khabib Nurmagomedov derrotou Conor McGregor via submission at UFC 229 and challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr to a fight. The boxer accepted the duel as long as it was a boxing fight and in Las Vagas (USA). However, UFC president Dana White stated that the provocations between the fighters should be ignored. When asked again about the athletes' meeting, the franchise commander said that if 'Money' wants to fight with 'Eagle' it can happen inside the octagon, but not in a ring.

“Listen, if Mayweather wants to fight, come fight. You fight in the UFC. We are not accepting a boxing match again. We did this once. He finished. You want to fight? Come fight. A real fight”, said Dana in an interview with the North American website TMZ Sports.
Apparently White has no interest in putting another fighter from the organization to face the boxer inside the ring, as he did with McGregor. The UFC promoted the confrontation between Floyd and Conor in 2017, however the boxer won the fight by knockout in the 10th round.
The organization's president admitted that even if he was interested in letting Floyd face Khabib he would have to wait for the Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing. The trial for the widespread brawl that occurred at UFC 229 will take place on December 10th. “He and Conor have to go before the Nevada Athletic Commission. I think it's scheduled for December. We’ll see what happens,” said White.
Even after so many rumors, Khabib's future in the UFC octagon seems set. Dana White reiterated that Tony Ferguson should be Nurmagomedov's next opponent.
"What I mean to say, Tony Ferguson It's the right fight. Tony Ferguson didn't lose the (interim) belt in a fight, so this is the right fight. It's the struggle to do it. Let's see how this whole thing plays out. Obviously it will depend on the suspension and what happens”, concluded the president of the franchise.
