Dana White may give Anthony Johnson another chance in the future

After failing for the third time at a UFC weigh-in and ending up defeated by Vitor belfort at UFC Rio 2, the American Anthony Johnson aroused the ire of Dana White, who fired him.

During activities related to UFC On FOX 2 this Thursday, the president of the UFC, which also controls Strikeforce, said that the fighter will not work for either of the two promotions controlled by Zuffa, but left the door open for a possible conversation in the future.

“He needs to fight somewhere else, get some wins, make weight. He needs to prove to me that he can be a professional, show up at the right weight and do the things he needs to do. He needs to do some fights. If you do, we’ll talk again.”

Johnson had decided to move up a category to minimize the sacrifice of cutting more than 20kg to fight as a welterweight, but on his first opportunity as a middleweight, he showed up to the UFC 142 weigh-in weighing 11 pounds (almost 5kg) above the tolerated limit.
