Considered by many to be the best MMA fighter of all time, Jon Jones He will have to live forever with some blemishes in his career. Caught on two occasions in anti-doping tests, in July 2016 and August 2017, the former light heavyweight champion, who received just 15 months of suspension and is scheduled to face Alexander Gutafsson at UFC 232, on December 29, in Las Vegas, defended himself against accusations of being a cheater and stated that everything was just small accidents, which in no way diminishes his achievements inside the Octagon.

In the sexual stimulant situation, it was proven to be a mistake. Who takes these pills expecting to fight better? Nobody. We discovered the company, found the exact pills, ordered the pills and they came back with stuff that shouldn't have been there. It was such a small amount that it wasn't going to make you fight better or get stronger. In the second situation, we discovered that USADA said: “The amount of steroids we found in his body, Jon, was like throwing a pinch of salt into an Olympic-size swimming pool.” It was so small that it was very obvious that it was an accident. It's very clear that it didn't help to knock him out Daniel Cormier. I would say to these people that they are looking for an excuse not to give me due credit, because in the first situation it was proven... well, in both situations it was scientifically proven that the quantities (of illegal substances) were so small that it was not possible affect my performance in a positive or negative way. The two times I failed a doping test for performance-enhancing substances, it was so little that it couldn't affect your performance. For everyone who is saying, “Well, he must have cheated,” okay. After everything I just said, if you want to call me a cheater, then you just don't want to admit that I'm f***ing good at it”, said 'Bones', in an interview on a program called 'JW Raw'.

This is the second time in just over a year that Jones has tested positive for anti-doping tests carried out by USADA. In July 2016, with just two days left to face Cormier at UFC 200, he was caught using hydroxyclomiphene and Letrozole, two estrogen blockers. As punishment, he received a 12-month suspension.

Jones confessed to being addicted to cocaine and was arrested for running over a pregnant woman and fleeing the scene because he was high on drugs. At the time, the UFC removed his belt and suspended him until the case was judged and he was sentenced to probation and serving mandatory services. UFC president Dana White even revealed, when reinstating the fighter to the roster of athletes, that this would be his last chance.
