Former welterweight champion by the World Boxing Council, North American Victor Ortiz is in serious trouble with the justice system in his country. The fighter was accused of raping a woman in March in the city of Oxnard, California. The city police revealed that he handed himself in on Tuesday night (25).

After being detained, Ortiz paid bail of US$100, around R$402 at the current rate, and will answer the case in freedom. He faces charges of rape, forced oral sex and forced digital penetration. The trial is scheduled to take place on October 10.
Without going into details about the accusation, the fighter used his Instagram account to post a quote from the poet Miguel de Cervantes: “Truth will rise above falsehood like oil above water.”

Despite the serious problem with justice, Victor Ortiz does not forget his career. The North American has a fight scheduled for next Saturday (29) against John Molina, in Ontario, in the United States. In his last fight, in February this year, he drew with compatriot Devon Alexander.
