Brave Combat Federation's anniversary event, Brave 16 had two title fights and three Brazilians in action. showx' did not disappoint, with the two challengers Bubba Jenkins and Jarrah Al-Selawe dethroning featherweight champions Elias Boudegzdame and welterweight champions Carlston Harris. Furthermore, Brazilian Bruno Malfacine won his third victory in MMA, again by submission, when he managed a rear-naked choke in the first round against Cristian Rodriguez Jr.
In addition to the ten-time jiu-jitsu world champion, two other Brazilians took action: lightweight Erick “Indio Brabo” lost a decision to Guram Kutateladze, while veteran Flavio Serafim submitted Vaughn Donayre with an armbar.
In the co-main fight of the night, the jiu-jitsu of then-featherweight champion Elias Boudegzdame was no match for the wrestling of Bubba Jenkins. Also better at striking, the American dominated the fight with powerful takedowns and straight lefts that stunned the French-Algerian. The only moment of danger was at the end of the fourth round, when Elias got an ankle lock, but the bell sounded.
In the main fight, Carlston Harris until he started well, using his boxing to touch Al-Selawe at all times. The Jordanian, however, found a gap in the guard of the Guyanese based in Rio de Janeiro and landed a hard blow. “Moçambique” fell in his seat and referee Leon Roberts stopped the fight in the first round. Al-Selawe is trained by Brazilian Samy Al-Jamal, who gave him his jiu-jitsu black belt after the fight.
