The Brazilian Fabricio Werdum paid dearly for a change in the anti-doping test applied by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). This Tuesday (11), the organization revealed that the fighter was suspended for two years from any MMA competition in North American territory.

The sample, taken on April 25, revealed the presence of the anabolic steroid trenbolone and its metabolite epitrembolone. The suspension starts from the moment the case was revealed. In this case, the former heavyweight champion will be able to compete again on May 22, 2020.

Trenbolone is an anabolic steroid used to increase the weight of cattle that are prepared for slaughter. As a reference, its action on the human body can exceed that of testosterone (the main male hormone) by up to five times. Trenbolone can be used injectable or as a cream.

Werdum, who has a record of 23 wins, eight losses and one draw, was scheduled to face Alexey Oleinik next Saturday (15), in the main fight of UFC Russia. But he was removed from the duel due to changes in his exam. When the suspension ends, the gaucho will be almost 43 years old – his birthday is July 30th. A fact that could bring forward your retirement.
